چکیده

We present a new open source implementation in the SageMath computer algebra system of algorithms for the numerical solution of linear ODEs with polynomial coefficients. Our code supports regular singular connection problems and provides rigorous error bounds. Extended abstract for a talk given at the 5th International Congress on Mathematical Software (ICMS 2016). Accepted for publication in the proceedings, but withdrawn due to a disagreement with Springer about the above public domain notice.

Automata in SageMath - Combinatorics meet Theoretical Computer Science

The new finite state machine package in the mathematics software system SageMath is presented and illustrated by many examples. Several combinatorial problems, in particular digit problems, are introduced, modeled by automata and transducers and solved using SageMath. In particular, we compute the asymptotic Hamming weight of a non-adjacent-form-like digit expansion, which was not known before.

A Subdivision Solver for Systems of Large Dense Polynomials

We describe here the package subdivision solver for the mathematical software SageMath. It provides a solver on real numbers for square systems of large dense polynomials. By large polynomials we mean multivariate polynomials with large degrees, which coefficients have large bit-size. While staying robust, symbolic approaches to solve systems of polynomials see their performances dramatically a...

ZpL: a p-adic precision package

We present a new package ZpL for the mathematical software system SageMath. It implements a sharp tracking of precision on p-adic numbers, following the theory of ultrametric precision introduced in [4]. The underlying algorithms are mostly based on automatic differentiation techniques. We introduce them, study their complexity and discuss our design choices. We illustrate the benefits of our p...

A Comparison of Thin Plate and Spherical Splines with Multiple Regression

Thin plate and spherical splines are nonparametric methods suitable for spatial data analysis. Thin plate splines acquire efficient practical and high precision solutions in spatial interpolations. Two components in the model fitting is considered: spatial deviations of data and the model roughness. On the other hand, in parametric regression, the relationship between explanatory and response v...

Evaluating a constant expression in multiple precision with a guaranteed error bound

The evaluation of special functions often involves the evaluation of numerical constants. When the precision of the evaluation is known in advance (e.g., when developing libms) these constants are simply precomputed once for a while. In contrast, when the precision is dynamically chosen by the user (e.g., in multiple precision libraries), the constants must be evaluated on the fly at the requir...
